18. thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a day where we are reminded to do something we should be doing everyday - giving thanks. I guess it’s a good reminder. It definitely caught me off guard.
Today I saw 3 elderly men watching TV. They were watching a broadcast of happy families wishing viewers a Happy Thanksgiving with warm smiles. Following that were commercials about how spectacular Black Friday shopping will be. Afterwards a special message from a CEO of a big company in a nice suit reminded people to be thankful for the holidays.
These 3 elderly men watching TV were homeless and alone today. They obviously did not have families to spend Thanksgiving with. Nor did they have money to go shopping to take advantage of Black Friday sales afterwards. Also, they were old and probably had no hope in changing their current circumstances by much.
I wonder what goes on in their heads when they see society portray how Thanksgiving should be compared to how their lives actually are. Is genuine gratitude even possible in such circumstances? What message of hope do we have for people like that?

17. scrunch or fold
It’s the little details in life that say a lot about who you are.
For instance, scrunching or folding at first seems like a very trivial and immature topic to talk about with friends (although, it actually forces you to be vulnerable and open). However, after reflecting about my answer, I thought it had much insight on my character.
I used to scrunch because I didn’t want to waste time (around 1.3 seconds) because everybody knows that time is money. In return, I had to sacrifice efficient utilization of precious toilet paper which increased global pollution and my expenses. I realized I lacked patience and therefore suffered the immediate consequence of waste. Waste as in wasting toilet paper and money, albeit minimal. Also, scrunching sometimes would leave me with a dirty finger.
…
The bottom line is that I now fold like a civilized human being and am saving trees and money while doing it. I also found that being patient and taking things slowly pay off in the long run. I can also boast that I am environmentally friendly! I must go poop now.

I could not resist posting this. This is too adorable. The innocence and potential of a child is something I will always cherish.

15. love
Love is the most talked about subject in human history.
Here is my take on it:
Until you can love someone despite their deepest flaws and failures, you cannot claim you genuinely love that person.
It is unfortunate that this type of love and acceptance is extremely rare. At the same time, I am not surprised, for it is a very difficult thing to do.
What a sad world. Hence, I appreciate this ad below, although I am not entirely sure what they do. Something about making people happy I assume. Now, there is definitely a need for that! What a great business! *Smiley face*

13. do a lot with a little

I love being able to produce given limited resources. It’s like writing about life in 500 words, a 3 piece band, an indie film, vintage clothing, black and white, white t shirts, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

12. future career concerns

It’s been pretty nerve wrecking when I ponder about my future. These ads assure me to chase a position in which I not only believe in the company but also what I’m doing. Often, coming from a business school, it is extremely tempting to engage in jobs that are most lucrative, but after talking with various, wise people, I found the job that you love is priceless. Now to find that job!
